Thomas Tuchel is reportedly keen on reuniting with a former player from Paris Saint-Germain next season to bolster the midfield at Chelsea.
Thomas Tuchel has pulled off a remarkable turn of events at Chelsea since taking over in January. However, the German manager is keen on improving the club’s squad and plans on carrying out a few transfers over the summer transfer window.
The Italian midfielder worked under Thomas Tuchel for approximately two and a half seasons at Paris and was one of the most pivotal players to the manager’s set-up.
Verratti’s technical quality on the ball has seen him gain worldwide praise and is also considered to be one of the most technically gifted central midfielders on the ball.
His ability to manoeuvre the ball through tight spaces along with his superior ball-distribution makes him one of the most sought after midfielders in the world.
His interest in reuniting with Marco Veratti next season could mean that one of the aforementioned midfielders would have to make way for the 28-year-old.
Jorginho could be sold at the end of the season if Chelsea manage to complete the signing of Veratti from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 29-year-old is on contract with the Blues until the summer of 2023. The club could consider cashing on him this summer since next year they would no longer have the bargaining power as his contract would enter the final year before expiring.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are also interested in signing a striker after the signing of Timo Werner last summer has not gone to plan. The club has shortlisted Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland as a potential transfer target to lead the attack next season.
Haaland is valued at 150 million euros by Dortmund as the Black and Yellows are reluctant on letting their marksman leave at the end of this season. With that being said, signing both Verratti and Haaland next summer could turn out to be an expensive proposition for Chelsea.
Whom would you like to see at the Stamford Bridge next season between the two?
