Tottenham Hotspur shortlist two strikers to replace Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur have shortlisted two strikers, one each from the Manchester clubs to replace Harry Kane next season.

Tottenham Hotspur have been left reeling after Harry Kane has reportedly asked to leave the club at the end of the season. The 27-year-old is keen on moving on from Spurs after failing to win any silverware despite scoring 220 goals in all competitions for the club.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have shown serious interest in procuring the services of the English striker next season. The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham have considered offering Kane to the Manchester clubs as part of a swap deal in exchange for Anthony Martial from the Red Devils or Gabriel Jesus of the Sky Blues along with a transfer fee.

Gabriel Jesus has not received much continuity at the Etihad Stadium and could be on the lookout for a new club with a guaranteed role of a starter. At Spurs, Jesus would be assured a more prominent role than what he has received at Manchester City but it is highly unlikely that the Brazilian would be able to fill in the void of Harry Kane.

The same could be said about Manchester United’s Anthony Martial. The Frenchman is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the league on his best day but is far too inconsistent with his performances. The 2020/21 season has been a clear indicator of Martial’s inconsistencies as he has only scored four league goals after scoring 17 times in the previous season.

However, Jesus and Martial might be Tottenham Hotspur’s best replacements for Harry Kane as no other top strikers would want to sign for a club that will not be playing in the Champions League next season and in the near future. While the options seem extremely limited for Spurs, who would you want to see at Spurs next season, Gabriel Jesus or Anthony Martial?
