Tottenham Hotspur, who already dealt with Inter Milan earlier this year are expected to be in talks with the Italians once again this winter.
Tottenham Hotspur agreed to allow Christian Eriksen to depart the club in accordance with his wishes and sold him to Inter Milan for 20 million euros in January this year. The attacking midfielder was not a signing wanted by Antonio Conte but one made by the board and hence, the Dane has struggled for game time at the San Siro.
Less than a year since his signing for the Nerazzurri, Eriksen has been linked with an exit. Paris Saint-Germain were closely linked with him in the summer but nothing ever materialized with the French giants. According to Calcio Mercato, the player could be on the move in this winter and a sensational return to Tottenham is on the cards.
Jose Mourinho and his former club hold the player in good stead as a result of his contributions and hence, they would be willing to welcome him back. The 28-year-old left the club only to try out a new challenge, but having failed on his adventure in the Serie A, he is himself happy with the likelihood of a return to north London, where he was a success.
In order to sanction a move for the former Ajax Amsterdam superstar, Tottenham are willing to offer two players from their current roster. Danny Rose and Dele Alli are the Englishmen in question and with Mourinho at the helm, they both seem to have unclear futures which means that departing to greener pastures may be the best.
Spurs have contemplated the termination of Rose’s contract but are yet to exercise the action and the prospect looks unlikely with the possibility of a swap deal being explored. The left-back was never able to win over his boss and subsequent to the signing of Sergio Reguilon coupled with Mourinho’s faith in Ben Davies, his career at the club looks done.
Dele Alli on the other hand started really well under the Portuguese manager last season. However, the player’s laziness has gotten the better of him and it seems that Alli will have to depart to become a regular. Conte has been an admirer of the England international since his Chelsea days and is interested in signing the 24-year-old.
For all players involved, a swap deal would be perfect. Eriksen would be back to the club where he enjoyed his most successful span as yet during his prime years, whilst Alli and Rose will both play in the Serie A, which is a lesser demanding division than England’s Premier League, and also under a manager who wants them with him.
