Tottenham Hotspur’s full-back is getting a lot of interest from European elites like Italy’s AC Milan and France’s AS Monaco.
The Serie A side have struggled in recent years and after failing to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the once Italian champions are now preparing to sell Andrea Conti or Davide Calabria as they have identified the perfect defender, Aurier.
Sky Sports had reported earlier that the French side, Monaco, were interested in the defender and the former Spurs player, now Coach of Monaco, was keen on acquiring Aurier for his defensive plans.
The former manager, Mauricio Pochettino, didn’t give the Ivory Coast international many chances to prove himself, but he seems to have found a place under the current boss, Jose Mourinho. The controversy surrounding the Ivorian’s off-field behaviour is what could be concerning the English side, with the rule-breaking attitude that could cost him his position.
The 27-year-old now has another club jostling for his attention, with AC Milan joining the race to sign him. According to Italian outlets, Milan could lose either one of their right-backs this season and they have named Serge as the ideal replacement.
If Mourinho does sell the defender with 2 years left on his current contract, he will have to look for an ideal, experienced right-back despite his desire to not bring in older players. Japhet Tanganga, at 21 years of age, could be a regular player with the exit of Aurier and play as a back-up.
Currently valued at roughly 12.5 million pounds, should either of the 2 clubs decide to sign him, it could be a bargain at this rate. However, the player has found regular minutes under Mourinho, and could very well decide not to leave.
