Diego Simeone‘s men were completely outclassed by an organized and disciplined by Bayern Munich side led by Hansi Flick. The champions of Europe demolished Atletico with a scoreline of 4-0, proving the fact that the Bavarians still have their spark left in them that was displayed last season in the Champions League as they ran riot against every single opponent. Hansi Flick opted to play Lucas Hernandez over Alphonso Davies in the starting eleven. This decision certainly did not go down well amongst neutral spectators since Davies is considered as a better left-back rather than Hernandez. However, tactically, Hernandez offers a lot more than the Canadian and his dominant style of play completed neutralized the threat of Atletico Madrid on the left-flank. In fact, Hansi Flick seems to prefer the Frenchman over the Canadian as the manager has benched Davies for two straight games.

It is quite a complicated situation as Davies’s growth could potentially be hampered. If Flick wishes to reintroduce Davies to the starting elven then Lucas would have to shift to the centre-back position, however, at the cost of David Alaba. Hansi Flick has a huge decision to make.
