Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich is set to sign for Liverpool despite the rumours linking him to Manchester United

Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara has been linked with a move away from Germany this summer after the player reportedly handed in a transfer request. The former Barcelona midfielder is looking for a new challenge after spending seven years at Germany, Thiago has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Barcelona and Manchester United so far.

Jurgen Klopp is eager on working with the Bayern Munich man at the Anfield this season, however, the board is not willing to spend 30 million euros as Thiago is set to turn 30-years-old next April and the player is not worth the price according to the board.

The condition that Klopp has on his table to sign the Spanish midfielder is to first sell Gini Wijnaldum. The Dutch midfielder has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer and his departure would most likely confirm the arrival of Thiago Alcantara. Reports from the Express state that despite the interest shown by Manchester United to sign the Bundesliga superstar, Liverpool will be his next destination as the player personally wants to move to the Anfield.

It has been reported SPORT that Liverpool will have to wait until the final week to sign Thiago Alcantara due to reasons that have not been disclosed. However, SPORT is confident that the former Barca midfielder will sign for the Reds this summer transfer market.

The 29-year-old could possibly be the third signing for Jurgen Klopp this summer after the Reds signed Kostas Tsimikas of Greece. The Greek left-back was signed for 12 million pounds and the player will play second to fiddle to Andrew Roberston. Kostas Tsimikas was however not included in the opening game of the Premier League against Leeds United.
