Inter Milan are set to face AC Milan at the San Siro which will be the first Milan derby of the 2020/21 Serie A campaign

After a long international break, the Serie A returns with a blockbuster contest between old rivals, Inter Milan and AC Milan. The Nerazzurri playing the ‘hosts’ this time, as the Derby Della Madonnina takes place in the historic stadium of San Siro.

The Rossoneri have started the Serie A in great fashion, managing to win all three fixtures superbly under their coach, Stefano Pioli. The 7-time Champions League winners seemed to have found their winning formula as the players such as Hakan Calhanoglu, Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao continue to perform in spectacular fashion.

On the other hand, Inter Milan is set to miss out on their English fullback, Ashley Young. The late arrival of players such as Arturo Vidal, Lautaro Martinez, and Alexis Sanchez from international duty could also prove to be an issue for Antonio Conte.

The Rossoneri are expected to start their irreplaceable goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma between the sticks whereas Conte is expected to choose the Slovenian Captain, Samir Handanovic in the Inter Milan goal, making his 346th appearance for the Nerazzurri.

However, Antonio Conte enjoys tremendous squad depth and would be willing to play 3 man defense with Stefan De Vrij, Alexander Kolarov, and Aleksander D’Ambrosio as center backs. On the other hand, Pioli should start Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer as first-choice center backs, alongside Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria in the full-back position.

Although the Rossoneri are having an excellent start to the season, Pioli has managed to suffer major setbacks in the midfield area as players such as Leo Duarte, Matteo Mussachio, Andrea Conti, and Matteo Gabbia are expected to miss the much-awaited clash against Inter, leaving the manager with a trio of Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer, Samu Castillejo.

Antonio prefers to play a 5 man midfield which allows his team to dominate the most important of the pitch, midfield. The former Chelsea coach is expected to play a midfield of Vidal, Nicolo Barella, and Marcelo Brozovic with Achraf Hakimi and Ivan Perisic providing a much-needed width to Inter Milan’s gameplay.

Stories for both teams look fairly simple as they continue to choose their proven scorers upfront, the dynamic duo of Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku for the 3-time Champions League winners. Whereas Zlatan Ibrahimovic is available for AC Milan selection after recovering from Coronavirus and should be selected for the Derby alongside the in-form Calhanoglu. Alexis Saelemaekers is set to make a return to the senior squad as well after Ante Rebic‘s recent injury.

The derby of Milan rarely disappoints its fans, as both the teams look to end Juventus’ domestic dominance this season. AC Milan currently sits second on the Serie A table whereas Inter Milan occupies the fifth spot.
