Real Madrid’s four-time Champions League winner looks for a move away in search of more game time in 2020/21.
Nacho Fernandez’s bond with Real Madrid has been as long as one can remember. Having come through the youth ranks of Real Madrid to feature in the Champions League for the Los Blancos, the Spanish defender has seen it all. The one-club man, Nacho has played over 200 games for the Spanish side, scoring 11 and delivering seven assists since his debut seven years ago for the senior side.
However in recent years, the 30-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order due to injuries and increase in competition, but what makes the Spanish defender a valuable asset is the experience he possesses which could add a depth of element in any lackluster defence as well as the versatility of playing in any available position at the back.
AS suggests, a number of Italian clubs are maintaining their interest in the Spain international as he continues his search for game time outside the Spanish capital. Three Serie A giants in AC Milan, Napoli and AS Roma are reported to be in contention for the Spanish defender’s signature.
Milan are the favourites to sign the Real Madrid man on on loan having already done the same with Brahim Diaz. The club’s technical director, Paolo Maldini, could use his goodwill with the La Liga champions Real Madrid in order to secure a deal for the 30 year old defender as he has done in the past.
A move to the San Siro could a great move for all the parties involved as the Rossoneri look forward to cope with the loss of Alessandro Romangoli and Mateo Musacchio to injuries and add depth to their backline. Besides playing regularly, it is not hard to suggest that Nacho wants to face newer and greater challenges in his footballing career and wants to play with greater continuity.
Nacho is pushing for a move outside Spain as he does not want to face the Whites due to the special place in his heart for his boyhood club. When the times comes, the Spanish defender will not be short of offers from all around the Europe, with only two weeks remaining for the transfer window to shut, Real Madrid value their defender at 12 million euros but will let their legendary figure make a choice due to his commitment.
