AC Milan have shown a great deal of interest in landing a Paris Saint-Germain superstar this January transfer window
AC Milan is on the lookout for a world-class striker to replace former Paris Saint-Germain striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently 39-years-old. The red and white Milan based side were heavily linked with Luka Jovic of Real Madrid this summer transfer window as the Serbian striker had not adapted well at the Bernabeu.
However, Milan was unsuccessful in their attempt to sign the Balkan as Real instead sent out Borja Mayoral to AS Roma and kept Jovic as their back-up striker for Karim Benzema. Since then, the Italian side has been on the lookout for a player and preferably a striker who is familiar with the style of play in Serie A.
Reports now state that AC Milan has considered former Inter Milan and current Paris Saint-Germain striker, Mauro Icardi. The Argentine striker was considered amongst the world’s best strikers during his stint with Inter, however, the player was shown the door after continuous arguments over the player’s salary.
The current Paris Saint-Germain star has scored 132 goals for Inter Milan during his six-season tenure at the club. This itself speaks volumes for how good a striker Mauro Icardi is. The 27-year-olds move to PSG has been successful as well so far as the player scored 22 goals for the Paris based side in just 36 appearances in all competitions in his debut season with PSG.
The Argentine striker is currently out injured with a knee issue and is expected to return by early November for the French side. Thomas Tuchel is eager to see his striker return to action, however, Wanda Nara, Icardi’s wife/ agent believes that her client should return to Serie A.
Stefano Pioli believes that the 27-year-old Argentine could form a lethal partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic if since in the winter transfer window and could potentially challenge for the Scudetto. It is obvious that Icardi would not take long to adjust to the Italian league given how well versed he is with it during his time with Inter.
A potential move is on the cards, however, PSG spent 52 million pounds to sign the striker and the club have an important decision to make on whether they should sell him or keep him.
