Real Madrid seem to have blurted out a club’s behind-the-scenes transfer negotaitions to the press and it’s likely reached those in the dressing room.
Real Madrid beat Villarreal last Thursday and were officially crowned as La Liga champions for the 34th time in their history. Karim Benzema was by far their best player, but it’s a pity that no other forwards at what’s supposedly the world’s best club were able to score more than three. For that reason, Kylian Mbappe continues to be a chief target.
Cristiano Ronaldo joining Juventus was bound to cause scoring issues at the Santiago Bernabeu but Karim Benzema has stepped up a gear to catch pace. With that in mind, the Frenchman had struck 21 goals in La Liga 2019/20 without much help and was also the top assist maker for the Merengues in their triumphant league campaign.
Florentino Perez however made the headlines after he said that Kylian Mbappe can wait until 2021 as the Whites will not be making any lucrative signings this summer. The Real Madrid chief revealed that his side simply cannot spend multimillions on players in a pandemic situation where their own existing employees have cooperated to take a pay cut.
Don Balon reports that this statement was seen in rather good light by the Real Madrid players and Sergio Ramos in particular, who believes that the president’s words were effectively a confirmation of them breaking the bank for Mbappe in 2021. Earlier this year, a closely linked source to PSG said that an agreement was in place for the transfer.
However, Mbappe’s move was ultimately postponed because the newly crowned Spanish champions were unable to afford his price after taken a major hit to their financial position. Having said that, Perez and Zidane have both been very vocal about the winger signing for the Bernabeu outfit sooner or later and 2021 may finally be the time he checks in.
Paris Saint-Germain have probably conceded to the fact that the World Cup winner will leave next summer when his contract enters the final year. Real Madrid and the Parisians share cordial relations and the Keylor Navas deal was thought to be done at a reasonable price for that reason- because Mbappe was always the big picture on Real’s mind.
How much do you think the player will cost Los Blancos in the next summer?
