The Giallorossi continue their search for a support striker for the Bosnian star Edin Dzeko as they confirm interest in Real Madrid man.
Borja Mayoral’s time at Real Madrid can be termed as bittersweet. After completing his successful loan spell with the Spanish side Levante, the 23-year-old has returned to his parent club earlier this summer. The Spaniard managed 69 appearances over two seasons for the Granotas, scoring 14 goals and assisting seven times in all competitions.
With several clubs monitoring the 23 year old’s situation, Italian giants AS Roma have emerged as leaders to sign the former Levante striker. Roma value the player around 10 million euros and are optimistic about their bid being accepted for the Spanish centre forward.
With Roma’s bid falling through for Arkadiusz Milik due to financial reasons, the Giallorossi have set their sights for the young Spaniard who perfectly suits the bill. A partnership of Mayoral and Dzeko would definitely be interesting for the Roma fans to witness.
Borja Mayoral’s status at Real Madrid is complicated as he is the fourth choice striker for Zinedine Zidane and the Frenchman does not see him as an ideal replacement for Karim Benzema. He has failed to record any appearances for the Los Blancos since the start of 2018/19 season.
With Mayoral entering into his final year of contract, the Whites would happily accept any offer in the 10 million euros region and given the Spaniard’s young age, Los Blancos would certainly contemplate to insert a buy back clause in any given deal.
Reports also suggest that the Spanish club is also negotiating a fee with another Serie A giant, Lazio for the striker. Valencia are also contemplating a move for the young striker, with the club only wanting to own 50% of his rights, which is something that Real Madrid isn’t looking forward to, according to reports.
With an evaluation of 10 million euros, Mayoral could be a great investment for any club around Europe combined with adequate game time. The young Spaniard holds the potential to become one of the most lethal striker in the top five leagues but Real Madrid simply may not be the place for the player given the inflation of names in their current roster.
