One of the chief Real Madrid targets for the 2021 calendar year is expected to force for a move to La Liga once the transfer window opens.
Real Madrid were outplayed and outfoxed by Cadiz, as they fell to a 1-0 defeat in La Liga. Los Merengues were unable to beat a low-block backline of a newly promoted side in the Spanish top-flight and it once again raised questions regarding their quality in front of goal. However, all things point to the problems being solved next season when Zinedine Zidane finally has his wishes fulfilled of landing either Erling Braut-Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.
Within a year, Haaland has become one of the most lethal strikers in Europe. The 20-year-old has managed to impress top clubs in the European circuit and continues to do so in great fashion. The Norwegian came into the limelight when he scored a hat trick on his Champions League debut with his former club Salzburg.
Earlier in 2020, the Norwegian earned a move to the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund. Since he arrived at Die Borussen, the 20-year-old has managed to score 21 goals and register 6 assists in 24 games, averaging a goal every hour for the German outlet.
However, the former young forward seems to aim bigger as he sets his sights on Real Madrid. In recent developments, Real Madrid are keen to recruit the lethal striker next summer as they look to rebuild their famous attack with Luka Jovic having failed to live up to the billing on the scoring front.
The German giants are keen on keeping Haaland at least until 2022, as they have signed him at the start of the year. Although the 20-year-old has a release clause of 75 million euros, it could not be activated until Haaland turns 22.
Over the last season, Real Madrid relied on their solid defence in order to achieve the desired results. The Merengues only conceded 25 goals in 38 games in the lead up until the summit of La Liga. On the contrary, since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, the Los Blancos have struggled to find the back of the net, with Karim Benzema leading the line for scoring by a substantial margin and not getting any support.
Due to the inability to score and over-reliance on Karim Benzema, the Spanish side struggled in the Champions League and Copa del Rey. However, a change is on the horizon as Los Blancos step up their game for the French attacker, Kylian Mbappe and if funds permit, they would be open to bringing the Dortmund ace to the Bernabeu as well.
The 20-year-old has started his new season in mesmerizing fashion, scoring four times and assisting twice in 4 appearances for Lucien Favre’s side. With Benzema’s age in consideration, bringing the Dortmund striker could prove out to be a wise move for the La Liga champions.
