An unwanted Real Madrid player is finally switching pastures, with the Premier League being the league set to be graced.
Real Madrid are planning to clean up several players during the summer transfer window to overcome losses suffered during the coronavirus pandemic. James Rodriguez is among a list of outcasts who have no future at the club and have been asked to leave.
As per Mirror, Carlo Ancelotti is looking to secure the services of the Colombian international, a player that he has chased for long. This transfer will be a major boost to Everton and their hopes of finishing in a UEFA Europa League spot on a consistent basis.
Even as per Fabrizio Romano, the negotiations have reached an “advanced stage” and it is giving off positive signs. However, it stands unclear at the moment the nature of the deal. Real Madrid have had their eye set on selling the 2014 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner. He was brought in back in 2014 for a record fee of 71 million pounds but has fallen down the pecking order, with the midfielder making only eight appearances for the La Liga giants in the last season.
Out of the teams involved, Everton will be more benefited from this deal because it is going to be a significant boost to their brand value. Moreover, the Premier league would suit James’ playing style and not to forget, the presence of Carlo Ancelotti. Rodriguez has featured in the starting eleven 36 times under the Italian and was involved in a goal on 28 occasions, during the 2014/15 campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu. A place in the squad will be a surety for the 29-year-old, exactly what he wants.
Everton have always been a team that has built themselves a name but hasn’t been able to capitalise on it. A European spot is something that they’ve been chasing since a significant while and Ancelotti’s injection may well be the closure between their barrier with the UEFA competitions. James will certainly be a super addition and promises to add attacking mobility.
James has spent two of the last three seasons with Bayern Munich, away on loan. After a bright start to his second life in Spain, Zinedine Zidane deemed him surplus. The player has also been linked to the Turkish outfit, Galatasaray. However, a move to the Premier League looks more on the cards.
Both the teams should go ahead with the deal and more so, Everton should pursue it. Carlo Ancelotti will receive a major boost to his hopes of building a winning team. There are interesting days in the waiting. Real Madrid have been linked to Kylian Mbappe as well and James’ sale will be a relief on their wage budget and a decent surplus to their transfer kitty.
