Real Madrid have seen interest incoming from Manchester City for one of the club’s most loyal figures, in what’s looking like an enticing offer.
Manchester City were well-beaten by Liverpool to the Premier League and one of the biggest reasons why they underperformed was their defence. While Pep Guardiola is considering the purchase of a central defender and left back, it’s fair to say that neither of his right backs in Joao Cancelo or Kyle Walker did a great job either.
Pep is buoyant after his side’s Champions League ban was lifted and is hoping to spend significant sums in landing some players he desires. Real Madrid full back Dani Carvajal is one of them and the former Barcelona boss is willing to pay up to 80 million euros to land his compatriot into the Etihad Stadium, Diario GOL claims.
Dani Carvajal is arguably the world’s best right back and was on show at his very best since La Liga restarted in Spain. He has been crucial to say the least for the Whites and his increasing quality is why he is still an indispensable member of the roster. With that said, Carvajal’s fantastic attributes even compelled the club to get rid of Achraf Hakimi.
From the Sky Blues’ perspective, there is no better right full back that they can sign at this point in time than Carvajal. The Spain international is physically strong, pacey and is a mixed bag. His attacking prowess is perhaps surpassed only by Trent Alexander-Arnold among those in his position, whereas defensively the 28-year-old tops the rest.
Zinedine Zidane considers the La Fabrica graduate as an integral part of his future plans and there is absolutely no way that Carvajal will be allowed to leave the club, whatever may be the price a club is willing to pay. While the Spaniard had revealed his desire to play in the Premier League some years ago, even he may have changed his mind in all likelihood.
Real Madrid going out of the way and selling Achraf Hakimi to ensure regular football for Carvajal is a sign enough from the Merengues to show how much they value their academy product. In addition to that, Zidane values each and every player and the Frenchman has been full of praise for the club’s loyal figure.
Carvajal is likely to be a club captain sooner or later and given he has gotten at least three or four years at the top left in him, it may be something he is interested in. Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane are right now those in the forefront of the armband, but a player or two departing would pave the way for the right-back’s captaincy.
