Real Madrid prepare to show the door to four superstar’s at the end of the season
Zinedine Zidane and Florentino Perez have agreed to show the door to four superstars that will not feature next season at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid was looking forward to the summer transfer window, however, the unexpected pandemic followed by a three-month lockdown has severely depleted the financial resources of the club leaving them with a limited transfer budget.
Real’s president had already made it clear when the team clinched their 34th Spanish league title that the club will not be making any expensive signings due to the current situation. However, the Madrid based side still continue to negotiate an exit for four of their superstars.
First on the list is James Rodriguez of Colombia. The South American midfielder has barely featured under Zinedine Zidane this season and at the age of 29, James cannot afford to spend his prime on the bench while earning a hefty salary. The former AS Monaco man has agreed to leave the club at the end of the season and according to the rumours, Manchester United seems like his next new home.
Next on the list is Lucas Vazquez, the Spanish winger has been the silent guardian and hero for Real Madrid for a quite a few seasons. Vazquez is the kind of player that puts the club badge ahead of his personal glory and is a great asset to the club. However, with the signing of Rodrygo and Takefusa Kubo, the former Castilla graduate has fallen down the pecking order. Currently, Tottenham Hotspur seems like the favourites to procure his signature.
Jesus Vallejo has also been added to the list of possible departures. The Spanish defender has failed to prove his worth to cement a place under Zinedine Zidane which was the primary reason why Real purchased Eder Militao over the summer of 2019. The 23-year-old defender struggled in the Premier League as well while on loan at Wolverhampton which gives Zidane no reason why the player would adjust at the Bernabeu.
Along with Vallejo, the final name on the list Borja Mayoral. Although Mayoral has the potential to be a successful striker in the near future, Real have already signed Luka Jovic and it seems like the Serbian will be given more game time next season which rules out all the possibilities for Mayoral to secure game time. The Levante striker has been linked with a move to the Serie A and his future will be decided shortly.
Real Madrid is hoping to load off these four players this season and the money that would be generated would be reinvested to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United. The former Juventus midfielder still remains a favourite in the heart of Zinedine Zidane and it seems like Florentino Perez will finally give the French manager his long-awaited wish of having Pogba in the midfield.
