Real Madrid are exploring the prospect of signing one of the best RB Leipzig players during the upcoming months.

Real Madrid are expected to be without a signing for the summer as Florentino Perez conceded to the news that there will be no major spending at the capital. While the Whites are still being linked with a set of reasonably priced players, it is likely that they will hang around until January or next year for any transfer.

Don Balon has reported that Zinedine Zidane wants RB Leipzig superstar Dani Olmo at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Whites had everything in place to sign Donny van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam until the pandemic struck before losing him to Manchester United, but the French manager believes that Olmo’s addition would be a fruitful avenue.

The Spanish attacking midfielder is also capable of playing on the flanks, thereby offering a good amount of versatility to any side he features in. Olmo, 22, checked into RB Leipzig only in January but played a crucial role in his side’s Champions League run which saw the Germans get the better of Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid.

Olmo did score a goal against Real’s crosstown rivals which proved vital in a 2-1 quarterfinal victory. In spite of doing a good job and being at Leipzig for just half a season so far, his value is just 40 million euros. Such a price should be fairly within the Merengues’ reach, but given that they’ve gotten an incredible young squad, he may not be the need of the hour.

Zinedine Zidane already has two promising young midfielders in Federico Valverde and Martin Odegaard at his disposal, whereas the wings are already overloaded with the likes of Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Junior fiercely competing for a key role. As such, all the players are younger or around Olmo’s age and are arguably showing greater potential.

In addition, the club also has an experienced backup and playing second fiddle may not be a prospect that entirely excites Olmo. For the time being, Kylian Mbappe, who is a mercurial goal-scorer and Eduardo Camavinga should be the club’s chief targets, and they must soon scout for a central defender and right back to complete a full revamp of the squad.
