Juventus and Inter Milan are willing to battle it out to sign a deteriorated Real Madrid legend this summer transfer market

Since the arrival of Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid has made some very smart signings so as to replace the older players in the squad. With Eder Militao for Sergio Ramos, Luka Jovic for Karim Benzema, and so on. Though most of these signings have been made as replacements down the line, one which stands out is Ferland Mendy who was bought as a replacement for Marcelo Vieira.

The Brazilian full-back has made his name as one of the best if not the best left-back in recent years with the threat that he creates on the flank. But being 32 years old, it was quite necessary for Los Blancos to find a replacement for their legend which they found in Mendy. In a turn of events, the Frenchman has taken Marcelo’s place in the squad being the first choice player at times. Though Zidane still believes in and supports the Brazilian, the physical conditions and age play a key factor in which the former Lyon player holds an advantage.

According to reports, clubs have decided to capitalize on this opportunity and are trying to secure a move involving the Madrid player. Juventus and Inter Milan seem to be the clubs interested in availing the services of the Brazil international. At Inter, Antonio Conte has made quite a few transfers this season in hopes of lifting the Serie-A next season and to regain the club’s status as one of Europe’s elites again. A transfer involving Marcelo would surely help these causes, by providing them a solid player that they can utilize to their advantage.

With Juventus, the rumours of the transfer of the 32-year-old have been going on since the move of Cristiano Ronaldo to the Turin side. As stated in many interviews, the Portuguese star is like a brother to Marcelo and would love the opportunity to play with him again. Consequently, talks of a possible transfer have been going on for quite some while, and with the Brazilian priced at a relatively cheap rate of 16 million euros, both the Italian sides are close as ever in finalizing a signing.

However, though the price tag is low Marcelo takes up around eight million euros a year off the wage bill, something both the Serie-A giants can not afford. The Real Madrid superstar is open to hearing offers this time around but it seems highly unlikely that he would be leaving the Santiago Bernabeu this season.
