Real Madrid overtake Serie A duo in the race to sign David Alaba of Bayern Munich who will be available as a free agent next summer
David Alaba is one of the most versatile players in the world of football. His ability to dominate every position in the region of midfield and defense is unprecedented, propelling him to a legendary stature in the Bavarian club of Bayern Munich where he managed to win more than 25 trophies in his time with the club.
However, it seems that Alaba’s time at Bayern Munich is coming to an end after the Austrian has rejected the initial offer for contract renewal. The 28-year-old is out of contract next summer and would be listening to all the offers on the table. The Austrian’s versatility and work rate has managed to garner interest from all around Europe and would be having many suitors if he decides to leave the German franchise. Among all the suitors 28-year-old old, Juventus and Inter Milan have emerged as the top contenders for recruiting Alaba.
As Juventus and Inter Milan are set to battle it out for the Scudetto this season, Alaba’s acquisition could prove to be a key factor in their title bid. Alaba would certainly be available for sale with a reasonable price tag as the Bavarian giants are well versed with the fact that they could lose the Austrian for free if they fail to agree upon a deal before the end of the winter transfer window.
A suitable price tag could also allow the Spanish champions, Real Madrid to enter the race for the Bayern superstar. With a shaky start to the season and decreased squad depth, Zinedine Zidane could target Alaba in the future. Los Blancos enjoys a healthy relationship with the Champions League winners and could have an upper hand in the negotiations. However, Real Madrid could possibly make use of David Alaba as a backup defender for Sergio Ramos alongside Eder Militao or Zidane could use the Austrian international in place of Marcelo as a backup left-back.
After the last season’s heroics in the restructured Champions League format, the Austrian managed to surprise his current manager, Hansi Flick with his defensive capabilities. However, the 28-year-old wants more remuneration in order to extend his stay at the club, and with initial talks out of the way, Bayern has retracted the contract due to disagreement, according to the reports.
The future as of now remains uncertain for David Alaba and only time will tell whether he will sign for Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan, or Barcelona.
