Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur are set to sign a superstar from Real Madrid after the player gave the former Madrid coach his word.
As Real Madrid have been crowned champions of Spain for the 33rd time, Zinedine Zidane and the staff at the club have permitted their players a one week vacation to recharge their batteries for the upcoming clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium as they hope to overturn the previous defeat at home.
Once the Champions League campaign ends, Real Madrid will once again be busy in the transfer market, however, this time the club will solely focus on raising funds during the market after being severely affected by the pandemic.
The Los Vikingos would be selling a few of their superstars this summer including the likes of Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, and Mariano Diaz to garner funds. Diaro GOL reports that Zidane has already considered to part ways with one of his personal favourite player, Lucas Vazquez.
Vazquez is a beloved a figure at the club as he is loved by the fans, the team, the captain, and the manager himself. However, the Spaniard has struggled this season to secure minutes along with a few minor injuries. From the 50 fixtures that Real have played this season, Lucas has only featured in 22 games scoring three goals and providing two assists during the course.
Since the resumption of the league, Vazquez has featured just four times as Zidane has preferred to use Rodrigo ahead of Vazquez since the Brazilian youngster is a better attacker and is much more skillful.
At the age of 29, the Spanish winger has entered the final few years of his career and he certainly would not want to spend the remaining of it on the bench. Real already have enough young talent on the right-wing including the likes of Takefusa Kubo, Rodrygo, and Marco Asensio leaving Lucas with no opportunity to play for.
The report from Diaro GOL states that Vazquez has given his word to former Madrid and Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager believes that the addition of Lucas would prove to be instrumental in his system since Jose prefers winger’s who trackback often.
Vazquez can even play as a right-back, a feature that has caught the eye of Mourinho. Although the Spaniard will not be a starter at the north London club, Jose has ensured that he would get several minutes under his belt as a substitute from the bench along with a few appearances in easier fixtures and Cup games.
Tottenham Hotspur is willing to pay 16 million euros for Vazquez and the Spaniard has even asked Madrid to transfer him.
Would Real Madrid be making the correct decision by letting Lucas Vazquez leave?
