Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal could create a transfer domino

Arsenal and two of the fiercest rivals in the world, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, may be the epicentre of a few transfers.

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are stuck in a stalemate in truth regarding the negotiations over a transfer for Thomas Partey. Mikel Arteta wants to land the Ghana international in order to fortify his midfield but the Gunners have failed in triggering Partey’s release clause of 50 million euros. However, that may change soon with a swap deal being discussed.

The Premier League giants are willing to let go of Alexandre Lacazette despite his wish of staying and Atletico Madrid are on high alert. It has been suggested that the French striker could be used as a makeweight to lighten the financial burden on Arsenal, but there is a chance that a transfer domino is created, Don Balon reports.

If Alexandre Lacazette departs the Emirates Stadium, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be the only striker on the first-team’s roster. With that in mind, Arteta would want a backup to the Gabonese and Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz has been tipped to be an option. The forward has not been in favour with Zinedine Zidane after Luka Jovic’s arrival.

Should a swap deal such as this one go through, there is no doubt that all parties would benefit. Arsenal would get their hands on a terrific defensive midfielder who may bridge the gap for them between a top four finish and something below the Champions League spots. On the flipside, Diego Simeone would have a more lethal forward than any of his two current options, Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa.

Real Madrid will also be benefactors as they will manage to get rid of a player who has no future at the club. Mariano’s wage is not a hefty one, but during a global pandemic and with several signings lined up, the club would be open to letting him go. Moreover, the striker will have his minutes considering the number of competitions Arsenal will play in.

Do you see this transfer domino being executed by the deadline day, October 5?
