Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United face each other once again following the humiliating defeat at Old Trafford last year.
Jose Mourinho of Tottenham Hotspur takes on his former side Manchester United in the Premier League tonight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The last time these two sides faced each other off in the Premier League ended in a great disappointment for the men in red who were battered at their home ground after Spurs scored six past them.
Redemption and revenge will be on the cards for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tonight. On the other end, Mourinho will be wanting to put out a statement to the media following the harsh criticism he received after the 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.
Hugo Lloris is expected to start in goal against the Red Devils. The Frenchman has not been at his best this season and has been linked with a potential exit in the summer. Nonetheless, Lloris will remain in goal for Tottenham against Manchester United.
Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon are expected to play as the two centre-backs after the partnership of Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld has fallen down the pecking order under the eyes of the manager. The partnership of the Colombian and the Welsh defender is a rather inexperienced one and it could be quite a risky proposition by playing Sanchez and Rodon ahead of the likes of Dier and Alderweireld.
With Matt Doherty out injured and Sergre Aurier falling out with Jose Mourinho, it is more than likely that Japhet Tanganga will start as the right-back. The 22-year-old defender has been a decent make-shift fullback this season as he is actually a centre-back. Sergio Reguilon will start on the left flank since Ben Davies is out injured.
In the midfield, Tanguy Ndombele and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are expected to form the central midfield partnership. The two midfielders have been one of the most consistent performers for Tottenham this season and are once again expected to deliver against Manchester United.
While Ndombele and Hojbjerg sit deeper in the midfield, Giovani Lo Celso will be the attacking midfielder behind Harry Kane. The former Real Betis midfielder has the ability to find the back of the net with his powerful shots and could pose to be a danger to the Red Devil’s backline.
Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min will be the two wingers on their respective flanks to support the attack with Kane as the striker. From the bench, the likes of Erik Lamela and Carlos Vinicius could be brought on in the second half if required to make changes in the attack.
