Real Madrid have been in fine form of late and will look to extend the streak when they face Elche at the Estadio Martinez Valero.
Real Madrid are looking close out 2020 with a seventh successive win and joint top spot in La Liga as they face Elche in La Liga on Wednesday. Los Blancos are riding a fantastic streak and will look to extend their best run of the season against the relegation-battling side.
Zinedine Zidane has been able to call upon most of his players. Luka Modric returns to the fray after a muscular overload last week, but Rodrygo misses out through an injury. Isco, who was initially included in the squad misses out after being granted a paternal leave.
While he has some quality players to choose from, the goalkeeping role belongs entirely to Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian has started all of the side’s league clashes this season and will continue to guard the sticks at the Estadio Martinez Valero.
Given that Madrid’s six straight wins have come at the back of good defending, Zidane will stick with his preferred backline. Sergio Ramos will partner Raphael Varane at the heart of defence, while Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal are set to remain as the full-backs.
Casemiro will play in his defensive midfielder’s role and play in an unchanged midfield from last week’s win over Granada. Toni Kroos will not be afforded a rest in the absence of Isco, but Luka Modric will. Federico Valverde will come in instead of the Croat.
Eden Hazard is now fully fit and might be handed a start against Elche, who are a relatively less physical side. The Belgian left-winger has struck twice this season and will be keen on extending his scoring record against a lesser side from the Spanish division.
Lucas Vazquez, who has been indispensable in the last few matches may be offered a rest with Marco Asensio coming in on the right wing instead. The 24-year-old had a brilliant match last time around and will look to continue his run of form.
Karim Benzema has scored four times in the last three Real Madrid matches. The Frenchman is the top goal-scorer in La Liga this season and will be looking to end the year on a high. He will lead the line against Elche on Wednesday’s clash.
