Real Madrid are set to travel to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez Stadium to take on Getafe in La Liga following their UCL quarter-final win.
Real Madrid are steamrolling this season under Zinedine Zidane after a rather turbulent start. The Whites have made a statement in Europe after defeat Liverpool and Barcelona, two of the biggest sides in European football, in a weeks time. However, the success has come at the cost of losing out several key players as Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Eden Hazard, Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy and Lucas Vazquez are all out injured.
With that being said, Zinedine Zidane will be without his first choice back-four against Getafe. Nacho Fernandez who has been in fine form recently will also miss out on the fixture due to a suspension. The French tactician will have no other option but to consider promoting players from the youth team to the senior team to fill in the void.
Thibaut Courtois will start in goal for Real Madrid against Getafe. The Belgian put on a masterclass of a performance against Liverpool at Anfield by keeping a clean sheet at all costs. Eder Militao will not be partnering Nacho Fernandez against Getafe as the Spaniard is suspended. This means that Victor Chust will be given a rare start alongside the Brazilian in the heart of the defence.
With Ferland Mendy out with an injury, Zinedine Zidane will bestow his faith in Real’s vice-captain, Marcelo. The Brazilian left-back has been sub-par for the past three seasons and will be looking to put in a worthy performance to cement a place in the eleven.
Alvaro Odriozola will also be provided a rare start. The 25-year-old has not yet managed to kick start his career at the Spanish capital, however, with Vazquez and Carvajal out injured, this could be the perfect opportunity for Odriozola to prove his worth to Zinedine Zidane.
There have been rumours that Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro are suffering from extreme fatigue following the Liverpool game at Anfield. If such is the case, Zidane will have to consider playing a midfield of Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos and Isco. Valverde is also not fully fit as the Uruguyuan midfielder was on painkillers for the quarter-final second leg of the UEFA Champions League.
In the attack, it is rumoured that Karim Benzema has also picked up a knock after James Milner rushed into the tackle early on in the game at Anfield. Mariano Diaz could be slotted into the starting eleven to provide Benzema with some rest as the Frenchman has been overburdened and overworked for much of the season.
On the wings, Zinedine Zidane could consider providing Rodyrgo Goes a start on the left-wing ahead of Vinicius Jr. Meanwhile, Marco Asensio had a poor outing against Liverpool apart from contributing in the defence. However, the Spaniard is certain to start against Getafe from the right and will look to have his name on the scoresheet.
