Predicted Real Madrid line-up as they host Granada in La Liga

Real Madrid take on Granada and look to win for the sixth consecutive meeting in Wednesday’s La Liga clash between the two sides.

Real Madrid are finally starting to look like title contenders once again having knitted five successive wins in all competitions for the first time this season. Los Blancos will look to extend that run of positive results when they face Granada at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium on Wednesday evening in their final home outing of the year.

Zinedine Zidane was unable to call upon Isco and Vinicius Junior for last weekend’s trip to Eibar. While the former was suffering from an ankle problem, the latter had gastroenteritis. The duo will be available for selection against the Andalusians, as will Eden Hazard who is now fully fit after resting the side’s previous fixture.

Despite a need for squad rotation, Zidane is expected to stick with Thibaut Courtois in goal. The Belgian was key with his saves against Athletic Bilbao last time on home soil and will hold key against Granada too. Marcelo will be preferred to Ferland Mendy at left-back as he gets a rare start whereas Dani Carvajal will continue at right-back.

Sergio Ramos has featured in a majority of the club’s matches this season but he is an indispensable player and will continue to play in the heart of defence. Raphael Varane however could be given a rest. The Frenchman has played more minutes than any of his teammates and might make way for Eder Militao to start in defence.

Luka Modric reportedly has a muscular overload and will sit out of the clash, meaning that there will not be much depth in the midfield. Casemiro will continue to hold his spot as the defensive midfielder whereas Federico Valverde will also start beside the South American. Toni Kroos may be given a day off in favour of Martin Odegaard.

Eden Hazard could finally make his return to the side three weeks after being injured on the left-wing. Rodrygo, who is knocking persistently on Zidane’s door for more minutes will be used on the right-wing. Karim Benzema, who has scored five times in his last four matches will lead the line. He has been in top form so far this season.
