Manchester United must get a result to keep their Champions League fate in their own hands or risk going to the Europa League.
Manchester United visit RB Leipzig in their final Champions League group stage fixture of the season and the stakes could not be higher. The Red Devils are tied on point with Paris Saint-Germain and their German opponents, leaving absolutely no room for error. A defeat on Tuesday coupled with PSG avoiding one would send them into the Europa League.
After a buoyant display against West Ham in the Premier League last weekend, the side heads into the European Cup with a considerable presence of players, barring Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani– who are both injured- and Fred, who was shown a red card against Paris Saint-Germain last week.
David de Gea will return in goal after being left out of the line-up against West Ham. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will give no respite to his defence and name Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof as the central defenders. An unchanged backline would see Aaron Wan-Bissaka deputize the fullback role alongside the Brazilian, Alex Telles.
United will need to play a double pivot in the midfield to thwart counter attacks from the Leipzig players and so, Nemanja Matic is likely to be paired with Scott McTominay ahead of the defensive four. Donny van de Beek, who has failed to deliver so far for Manchester United will be benched in all likelihood.
A three-man attacking midfield would see Bruno Fernandes start on the right-hand side. The Portuguese has been in tremendous form lately. Paul Pogba, who scored a stunning goal over the weekend will play right behind the forward, whereas Marcus Rashford will occupy the left flank. Mason Greenwood will lead the line to complete the eleven in a must-win game.
