Manchester United face Granada in the Europa League quarterfinal, and will look to claim an early advantage before the return leg next week.

Manchester United return to Europa League action as they face Granada in a crunch quarterfinal clash on Thursday. The Red Devils’ only realistic chance of winning any sort of silverware this season lies in the continental tournament. As a result, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will name his strongest eleven for the fixture against the Spanish side as he now has a fully available squad to his disposal, barring Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly, injury and ill, respectively.

Dean Henderson started his seventh consecutive game between the sticks for Manchester United against Brighton over the weekend. He is expected to get the nod over David de Gea on Thursday, as well. Solskjaer has stated that he does mind playing either of the two players, and his decision will be based on a match-to-match basis. Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are certain starters, and will operate as centre-backs, thanks to their good run of form.

Aaron Wan Bissaka will hold his place in the team and start as the right-back. He has started most games for United but cannot be afforded a rest due to lack of competitive options in the position. Luke Shaw will operate as the left-back. The Englishman has been a vital part of the club’s season so far, and also earned a call-up to the Three Lions squad on the back of his impressive performances.

Fred is expected to partner Paul Pogba in the centre of the park, and will primarily operate as the centre-defensive midfielder. Paul Pogba will have enough opportunities to explore in the opposition’s half, as Fred will provide enough protection to the defence. The Frenchman came off the bench against AC Milan in the second leg of the last 16 tie, and had an instant impact. The former Juventus midfielder scored in the early stages of the second half to help his side progress into the quarterfinals.

Bruno Fernandes will play as an attacking midfielder, behind the striker. The Portuguese has had an incredible season so far, registering 23 goals and 14 assists.

Mason Greenwood scored the winner against Brighton on Sunday, and is expected to start on the right-side of the midfield. The 19-year old has established himself as a regular starter, after putting in some great performances in March. Marcus Rashford picked up a knock in United’s victory over Brighton, but is travelling with the squad to Spain. His participation in the quarterfinals is under doubt nonetheless, and it is expected that Daniel James will start on the right-side of midfield.

Edinson Cavani will start as the striker against Granada. The ‎Uruguayan striker has scored seven goals so far this season, and will hope to add to his tally against the Spanish side.
