Liverpool host Brighton at the Anfield on matchday 22 in the Premier League, as they look to move within a point of Manchester United.
Liverpool return to home territory after two successive wins which finally kickstarted 2021 for them. After 3-1 victories over Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham, the Reds are hoping to make it three on the trot in the Premier League when they host Brighton at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s men can make it 10 unbeaten matches against the Seagulls visit a result on Wednesday.
Sadio Mane is the latest addition to several players on the treatment table. The Senegalese winger’s absence was confirmed ahead of the West Ham match and it is projected that he may not be available for the side for at least a few more days. Nevertheless, Klopp can call upon new signings Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak for this outing.
Alisson Becker will keep his place in goal. The Brazilian will be guarded by a familiar backline of Jordan Henderson and Nathaniel Philipps. The new signings are likely going to wait for their respective debuts, especially after Brighton beat Tottenham over the weekend and will be high on morale. Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will complete an unchanged backline.
Georginio Wijnaldum, a goal-scorer from the West Ham win will keep his place in the middle of midfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones will start in the right and left sides of the engine room, respectively. Albeit attacking-minded players, all three players will have to contribute a great deal defensively against a side which likes to have possession of the ball.
Mohamed Salah will look to add to his brace from the previous match and move further forward in the race for the Golden Boot. The Egyptian will be joined by Roberto Firmino in the attack. The ex-Hoffenheim marksman was on the bench against West Ham. Xherdan Shaqiri will complete the frontline in Mane’s absence.
