Chelsea are back on home turf as they restart their Premier League campaign against Ralph Hussenhuttl’s men

Chelsea will restart their Premier League campaign against Southampton on their home turf. Frank Lampard‘s side ended their last home fixture with a 4-0 win over Crystal Place just before the international break. Although on Saturday, the Blues face a stiff test against the Saints who have played some attractive since the start of this season.

Both clubs are currently in 7th and 11th  position in the league table but at the same time, they are only separated by a point in the ongoing season. Chelsea has had a stop-start beginning to the title race as the West London club has won two games out of four and have drawn and lost one each.

The Blues begin their run of fixtures with a home game against the Saints followed by the Champions League opener against Sevilla and then facing Manchester United away at Old Trafford next Saturday. Frank Lampard’s side will have to put on their A-game in the upcoming fixtures this month.

On Saturday, Edouard Mendy might as well receive his second start in the goal. The defense will remain the same as  Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma are likely to partner in the centre of the defense with Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell retaining the right and left flanks at the back.

Jorginho is again on board to receive his 5th consecutive start in the midfield with Ngolo Kante operating as the defensive midfielder in the 4-2-3-1 formation. Kai Havertz, Callum Hudson Odoi, and Timo Werner are all in contention to retain their attacking midfield roles. Frank Lampard can opt to slot in Oliver Giroud as the lone striker but Tammy Abraham‘s recent performances might hand him the starting role in the lineup.
