Manchester United were humbled at Basaksehir Fateh Terim Stadium in UEFA Champions League. Can they defeat Everton on Saturday with this form?
After a shocking loss against Istanbul Basaksehir, Manchester United go up against Everton at Goodinson Park in the English Premier fixture. Manchester United have endured two consecutive losses in their previous two games and have to overturn the form before going to an international break.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s job is on the line at the moment and is expected to field a strong playing XI against the Merseysiders. Dean Henderson was given a Champions League debut in Turkey but David de Gea will return in the goal for Manchester United. In the defense, Victor Lindelof still remains doubtful for the fixture owing to his back problem. Axel Tunazebe might continue to play at the heart of the defense with skipper Harry Maguire.
Though Jesse Lingard is nearing his return from an injury, Alex Telles is still far from the return after getting tested positive for COVID-19. Phil Jones continues to remain unavailable for Red Devils ahead of the game against Everton in an early kick-off.
In the midfield, Scott McTominay and Fred are expected to return to the playing XI after Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata failed to impress the manager. Paul Pogba might start ahead of Bruno Fernandes on Saturday as Pogba started from the bench in the UCL fixture.
After serving a three-match ban, Anthony Martial is available for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is on the line to return against Carlo Ancelotti‘s men. Anthony Martial had a good outing against Istanbul Basaksehir in the midweek fixture and will look to start the game ahead of Edinson Cavani as a striker. Daniel James might be given a chance to prove himself as Marcus Rashford seems knackered at the moment.
Barring the previous game against Newcastle United, Everton have performed well in the league. Currently, the Carlo Ancelotti managed side sit third in the points table and will be a daunting task for Ole’s men.
