Liverpool are set to face Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League as the Reds travel to the Stamford Bridge to face the Blues

The Chelsea vs Liverpool fixture will be the first game between the top six clubs of the Premier League for the 2020/21 season. The Stamford Bridge will be hosting a motivated Liverpool side who are eager on defending their Premier League title after being crowned champions after 30 years.

Both Jurgen Klopp and Frank Lampard have made decisive signings this summer. The Reds officially announced the signing of Thiago Alcantara yesterday and are now reportedly closing on Diogo Jota of Wolverhampton Wanderers. Meanwhile, Frank Lampard has had a busy summer after signing Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr.

Both the teams would arrive for the fixture at full strength. The Reds only have former Arsenal midfielder, Alex Oxalde-Chamberlin out injured and the Blues will be missing Hakim Ziyech as well who is still recovering from an injury. Both sides have won their previous fixture after Liverpool managed to scrap past the 2019/20 Championship winners, Leeds United and Chelsea’s dominant display against Brighton.

Here is the starting eleven for Jurgen Klopp’s men against Chelsea

The former Borrussia Dortmund manager will stick to his conventional 4-3-3 formation along with a high press. In goal would be Alisson Becker. The four defenders would be Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Roberston. Van Dijk had scored a thumping header against Leeds United, however, the former Southampton man was not at his best after an error from him saw Patrick Bamford score a goal. The Reds certainly cannot afford to make mistakes against Chelsea’s new attack led by Werner.

Although the Reds have signed Thiago Alcantara, it is highly unlikely that the former Bayern Munich man would be handed a start against Chelsea. Klopp will opt to play Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho. The Brazilian midfielder, Fabinho would play as the central defensive midfielder, while Henderson and Wijnaldum play as the box to box midifelders.

The front three of Liverpool remain undisputed as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino are set to start against Chelsea. Salah is brimming in fine form after a hattrick in the opening matchday of the Premier League. Sadio Mane looks sharp as well, however, it Firmino that still seems to be poor in the final third after missing a sitter against Leeds United.
