Juventus are set to host FC Porto at the Allianz Stadium to play out the second-leg of the Round of 16 UEFA Champions League fixture.
Juventus are back in action in the UEFA Champions League following an emphatic victory over Lazio that ended 3-1. The Bianconeri are now set to host Porto in the return leg at the Allianz Arena after losing the first tie in Portugal by 1-2. Despite losing the first-leg, Federico Chiesa‘s away goal will hand the hosts leverage tonight if they manage to score and also keep a clean sheet.
Juventus are once again pinned-back by their opponent and only a comeback would see them through. The attention will be on Cristiano Ronaldo to turn the tie around after the Portuguese forward completed a sensational hattrick in his debut season against Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16.
Andrea Pirlo has quite a strong squad at his disposal for the crucial knockout fixture, however, the Italian manager will be missing out on the services of Rodrigo Bentancur, Paulo Dybala and Matthijs de Ligt. Nonetheless, Juve are basking in fine form lately as the return of Juan Cuadrado on the right-flank and Alvaro Morata looking sharper than ever in the attacking third has paid off lately.
At home, Wojciech Szczesny will start ahead of Gigi Buffon despite causing an error that led to a goal in the first leg. The Polish international will have to bring out his A-game tonight as securing a clean sheet will be the team’s priority to go through onto the quarter-finals. The centre-back partnership would see Leonardo Bonucci and Merih Demiral as the two centre-backs. With De Ligt out injured, Demiral will have to cover in for his absence. The Turk put up a solid display against Lazio and will be hoping to remain rock-solid against Porto as well.
Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro will start on their respective flanks as the full-backs. The two full-backs will need to press high up and attack down the channels to feed the ball to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata in the attack to overturn the scoreline. In the midfield, Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey would form the centre midfield partnership while Federico Chiesa and Federico Bernardeschi move higher up the flanks.
Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo will form the strike partnership. The former has been in fine form this season in the Champions League and will be hoping to find the back of the net against Porto. Meanwhile, 36-year-old Ronaldo was rested against Lazio to keep his nimble feet fresh for the much-awaited fixture.
