Potential Chelsea XI for the visit to West Brom this weekend

A look at the likely Chelsea line-up as they head to West Bromwich Albion for the third Premier League matchday on Saturday.

Chelsea face West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday evening as they look to gather themselves back up after a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out. The Blues will be looking to start a realistic challenge for the title after two unconvincing wins and with a squad revamp having been more or less completed, they have no excuses.

Edouard Mendy has signed for the club but him starting looks a bit unlikely given the lack of time he has had in the new surroundings just yet. Kepa Arrizabalaga will keep his place in goal in what may be his final fixture as a first-choice goalie. Kurt Zouma will play at the back and Andreas Christensen’s suspension could see Fikayo Tomori get the nod as well.

Reece James who played no part in the Carabao Cup win over the week will get his third straight start in the Premier League and it could be a full debut for Ben Chilwell, who is back from injury and played a few minutes against Lincoln in midweek. N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic would be part of a regular midfield.

Kai Havertz scored his first goal for the club and then followed it up with two more. The German’s performances have received criticism in the league, however, and with a visit to a newly-promoted side on the horizon, this may be the perfect opportunity for Havertz to get his career truly started with the west Londoners. He will play on the right flank.

Mason Mount has been decent so far for Chelsea and continues to be a trusted fellow under Frank Lampard, meaning chances are very high of him playing on the left flank. Timo Werner has contributed to two penalties in as many league outings for his side but continues to remain goalless. He too will start with one eye towards opening his own account.
