Manchester City winger Leroy Sane sealed a transfer to Bayern Munich, leaving Pep Guardiola with a major void to fill in for next season.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is now beginning to look for a replacement for Leroy Sane as his team prepares to have a major overhaul when the transfer window opens.
As per Tuttosport, the Spaniard is targeting his former Bayern Munich star in Douglas Costa, now at Juventus, who has been in impressive touch off-late. The Brazilian is a versatile forward who is quick on his feet.
Costa, 29, will be the ideal short-term replacement for Sane as he is a player who is experienced enough to play in one of the world’s best teams. Down the line, he could prove to be a real asset to Guardiola as it seems he still has at least a couple of years left in his prime period. The deal’s worth is set to be around 40 to 50 million pounds.
Known for his speed, dribbling and crossing, he could perfectly play the part of a winger and can fill in the shoes of Sane, who was one of Pep’s most important players in his two Premier League wins. While the hunt for a long-term replacement of the 24-year-old is inevitable for Guardiola, he also must be wary that the club can’t afford to spend big due to the coronavirus.
Costa can come in handy and the price is suited for him, given his calibre with the ball. It seems even Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the 29-year-old.
Juventus will be more than happy to let the 29-year-old go as they are looking for a replacement for Higuain who’s fitness woes have worsened post-lockdown. Moreover, they require a quality young player to fill in his shoes and someone who could match the pace of Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala on either flank.
Guardiola should go for his speedy winger and he could be the perfect replacement for Sane in the upcoming years, until Manchester City get their finances stronger and also manage to completely cool down talks of exploiting the Fair Play Rules. The pace of the attack will increase manifold and is likely going to prove to a menace for the opposition defence.
