Real Madrid have ruled out the potential signing of Paul Pogba as Zinedine Zidane has his eye on another French midfielder

Paul Pogba recently said in a post-match conference that it would be his and every player’s dream to play for Real Madrid. Being part of the club’s vast and successful history and included amongst the players who have played for the club was the dream that the Frenchman perhaps saw. But sadly to his misfortune, that dream might not ever come true.

His statement created quite a lot of speculation regarding his future as it is a well-known fact that Zinedine Zidane, the coach for Los Blancos is a great admirer of the Manchester United star. In fact, he has already made three attempts to bring the 2018 World Cup winner to the Santiago Bernabeu, attempts which have all eventually failed. The goal with the signing would have been to add more physicality to the Madrid midfield and with Luka Modric playing his last few years, a world-class replacement like Pogba would have been more than ideal for the La Liga champions.

But again, all these hopes have come crashing down, and the majority of the credit can be given to the coronavirus pandemic. Zizou already plans on bringing Kylian Mbappe or Erling Braut Haaland to the Spanish capital, but another midfielder has caught his attention, someone, who would be a more viable option to bring in than the former Juventus man.

The player in question happens to be Eduardo Camavinga. The 17-year-old midfielder has put up performances that are too good for his age and shows great promise, something that has attracted the likes of clubs from all around Europe. But, recent news suggests that the Rennes player might be on the move to the Merengues in the 2021 season and if so, Real might not have any money left to make a transfer or have the availability on the wage bill to support his 15 million euros a year paychecks.

Los Vikingos is not a club that usually faces a shortage of funds, but due to the economic situations posed by the pandemic, club president Florentino Perez announced that they would not be making any signings the now-past transfer window. So reportedly, any chances that the 27-year-old had of wearing the prestigious white jersey have unfortunately been knocked down, and a move to La Liga remains to be near impossible.
