Manchester United have a well-respected academy and of late, they’ve produced some brilliant players but one of their graduates particularly stands out.
Manchester United forwardMason Greenwood has been the talk of the town in the recent weeks. He has been in sublime touch. He looks like a seasoned pro when he plays even though he is just an 18-year-old who doesn’t have much experience under his belt.
As per the Mirror, Greenwood has been warned by Pogba to deliver on his potential and to realize it before it is too late.
He has so much to do again, he can do even more, and what he is doing right now is just talent. And he’s showing he can play in this team.
The 19-year-old found the net once again against Aston Villa on Thursday, continuing his hot run of form.
It was always going to be a gamble not opting for a world-class striker after having completed the sale of Romelu Lukaku and instead choosing to put faith in a youngster from the academy to deliver the bulk of the goals to come. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s decision has paid off and it looks like Greenwood is on his way to become one of the world’s best players.
Last season, the wonder-kid was offered a life-changing sum by Serie A giants in Juventus who wanted him to leave the Red Devils for their side. They recognized the potential that the forward had in him and wanted to launch him earlier in Turin. He could serve to be a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain but nonetheless, the youngster chose to align his loyalty with Manchester United as it has been a “dream come true” for him.
Solskjaer’s risk has paid off as the striker has now got 16 goals across all competitions and four in his last three games. He has been touted as a budding footballer with only growing potential and the Old Trafford is the perfect place for him to grow in the squad and more so, now that he is the emerging as a regular fixture in the Premier League starting eleven.
Back in the day, a similar youngster in Cristiano Ronaldo announced his arrival in football when he started playing for Manchester United and branched out to Real Madrid a few years later. However, the point to be made over here is that, the environment within the group of Red Devils provides any budding youngster with the ideal set of conditions to realize their potential. It is also rare to see a manager opting to put faith in an inexperienced youngster ahead of buying an experienced striker.
Do you think Mason Greenwood will become one of the world’s greatest footballers in a few years?
