Paris Saint-Germain hope to sign Real Madrid’s young left-back at the end of the season
Paris Saint-Germain has already won two trophies this season including the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France. The Parisians now prepare themselves to face Atalanta in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after knocking out Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16.
Thomas Tuchel could potentially become the first-ever manager in PSG’s history to guide the club to win their first-ever Champions League title, however, Kylian Mbappe‘s brutal injury in the Coupe de France might prove to be a serious challenge for the French side when they take on the lethal Italian side, Atalanta.
However, Tuchel continues to draw a plan for the 2020/21 season and the club has already confirmed the departures of Thiago Silva and Edinson Cavani. Tuchel has reportedly shortlisted Real Madrid’s young left-back Sergio Reguilon who is currently on loan to Sevilla.
The Castilla graduate was given plenty of first-team football in the 2018/19 season when former interim manager Santiago Solari decided to bench Marcelo in favour for Reguilon. However, Real signed Ferland Mendy of Lyon in the summer of 2019 and the French defender has proven to become an integral member of Zidane’s plan due to his defensive attributes.
As Zidane has Mendy and Marcelo at his disposal for the 2020/21 there is certainly no room for the 23-year-old to grow as a footballer. Meanwhile, former Borussia Dortmund manager Tuchel is willing to provide Sergio Reguilon ample game time while rotating with Layvin Kurzawa who has reportedly signed a new contract with the French team.
Real are also currently negotiating on selling James Rodriguez to Manchester United after the midfielder insisted on a move due to the poor relationship he shares with Zinedine Zidane. The Los Blancos will also be hoping to load off Gareth Bale in the summer, however, the issue for the Spanish giants would be to find a club that would meet his hefty wage.
