Paris Saint-Germain are willing to battle it out with Barcelona in a bid to sign one of the most lethal attackers from Ligue 1.
Memphis Depay is one of the most sought after names in Europe as several clubs are interested in signing the Dutch striker. Depay’s contract at Olympique Lyonnais runs out in the summer, as he joined the French club on a four-year contract in 2017. Barcelona are one of the top candidates to sign the 27-year old in the summer, but as things stand, several other clubs have entered the race.
Defending Ligue 1 Champions, Paris Saint-Germain have expressed their desire to sign Memphis Depay in the summer, as reported by Mundo Deportivo. Juventus are also in the race to sign the Lyon captain, however, the two primary candidates are Barcelona and PSG. The Catalonian club will make a bid for the Dutch striker, only if Ronald Koeman remains the manager at Camp Nou next season.
According to Le Parisien, Memphis Depay is on the wish list of PSG’s technical secretary, Leonardo for the summer window. However, the Dutch striker is not a priority as the French side are looking forward to making acquisitions to fill in the void in the right-back position and the midfield. PSG will still keep an eye on Depay, and his good relations with Neymar can be a huge factor in this deal.
The Dutch striker has scored 57 league goals for Lyon in his four-year spell at the club so far. Memphis Depay has continued his impressive form this season, as the Lyon captain has scored 22 goals in all competitions this season. He has assisted another 17 goals which speak volumes about his play-making abilities. Lyon are currently third in the Ligue 1 table, just three points behind the leaders, PSG. As things stand, both Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are in with an equal contention of signing Depay in the summer.
