Paris Saint-Germain may need some more potion to their roster if they are to win the Champions League for the first time ever.
Paris Saint-Germain are always on the lookout for the best players in the world and already boast some Champions League winners, without winning it themselves in all these years. For a side that has made some lucrative signings of late, money does not seem to be a major issue and for that reason, they are already plotting another massive arrival.
Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak is now on the French side’s radar, according to Daily Mail. The Slovenian is arguably the world’s best goalkeeper but has not won a large number of trophies with the Rojiblancos. Oblak wants to leave the La Liga side as he hopes to add a few collective pieces of silverware to his name.
Chelsea were interested in landing him during the summer but eventually settled for Edouard Mendy as Atleti continued to refer them to a 109 million pounds release clause. The Blues could not afford to pay that kind of money at the back of a club-record window but the same cannot be said about Paris Saint-Germain, who are a rich club.
Oblak would be a solid addition to the Ligue 1 side’s roster but whether they need to spend a massive sum on signing him remains to be seen. Just one year ago, they landed Keylor Navas from Real Madrid and the 3-time Champions League winner continues to be a world-class goalkeeper even at the age of 34.
While Oblak remains keen on departing Atletico, his club is likely to complicate matters for the Parisians by making lofty demands- most likely by citing the goalkeeper’s release clause. Having said that, it would also be interesting to see how Navas’ situation pans out because he surely can continue to play at the top level for a few more years.
