Paris Saint-Germain are contemplating a potential free transfer for a Liverpool superstar at the end of the season.
Paris Saint-Germain are all set to bring in more quality recruits this summer as they look to construct a more solid squad ahead of the next season. The 2019/20 Ligue 1 champions have set their sights on the likes of David Alaba and Lionel Messi as they look to bolster their offensive and defensive front.
Both superstars are expected to leave their respective sides this summer as their contracts are set to expire in June. The German defender has confirmed his departure from Bayern Munich after he officially announced that he will not be part of the club at the end of the season.
The Parisians are reportedly aiming to sign another potential free agent as reports from Le Parisien suggest that the Red and Blues are willing to make a move for Georginio Wijnaldum. After failing to agree on new terms with Liverpool, the Dutch midfielder is now expected to part ways after the end of this season.
Wijnaldum has been an integral part of the Reds first team since his arrival in 2016. In the ongoing season, the central midfielder has made as many as 25 appearances in the Premier League and has managed to score two goals this term.
PSG may consider bringing the 30-year-old in a bid to add more value to their present roster. The Ligue 1 giants do have a reasonable set of players in the middle of the park as they employ the likes of Idrissa Gana Gueye, Marco Verratti, and Leandro Parades. The arrival of the former Newcastle United midfielder will bring in more stability in the centre of the park along with a strong physical presence.
The Parisians would hope to land the player on a free transfer as he is certain to become a free agent after the end of this season. However, Barcelona are also interested in signing the Dutch midfielder as Ronald Koeman plans on reuniting with his former pupil in a bid to form a midfield partnership with Frenkie de Jong at Camp Nou.
PSG may as well be able to prepare a world-class squad next season as they have the opportunity to scoop out Alaba and Messi for a minimal fee. The arrival of the Liverpool superstar is bound to bring in more improvements to the Ligue 1 side.
