Paris Saint-Germain continue to chase their dream of winning the Champions League by hoping to add another asset into their arsenal.
Paris Saint-Germain could’ve had their perfect season if it wasn’t for Bayern Munich, who clinched the Champions League title by a single goal in Lisbon by thwarting the Ligue 1 outfit. The French giants have had their eyes on Europe’s greatest club competition for a long time now and have hoped to win it since a long time, but they have always stumbled against the most crucial of opponents.
To help their cause, Les Parisians have recruited players such as Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, taking their total expenditure to more than 500 million euros in the last five years. But it seems like the French champions aren’t done yet as they look to sign Juventus’ main man and the all-time top-scorer in the Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Calcio Mercato.
PSG are considering a move for the Portuguese superstar to increase their chances of securing the Champions League. However, the 5-time Champions League winner tends to respect his current contract Juventus, which sees him tied to the club until 2022.
However, the scenario could change if the Bianconeri manage to secure a Champions League with the Portuguese talisman on their side. With domestic success inevitable for Juventus, Ronaldo was acquired in order to bring the Champions League glory to the Allianz Stadium for a sum exceeding 100 million euros.
According to the reports, the French club could still try to acquire his services next summer as they closely monitor Juventus’ finances as the former Real Madrid nets a staggering salary of 31 million euros per season which could prove to be hurtful following the losses incurred during the pandemic.
Since his arrival, the ex-Real Madrid marksman has managed to score 68 goals and assist 18 times for the Serie A champions, registering 91 appearances in the process. His most noticeable performance came against his old rival, Atletico Madrid where he single-handedly knocked out the Spanish club after scoring a majestic hat-trick in the round of 16 of the 2018/2019 Champions League.
For a club like PSG, affording Ronaldo will be no difficult task and especially with Mbappe likely to depart the club for Real Madrid in 2021, the 35-year-old’s signing could be fruitful. Unlike several other players of his age, CR7 has truly proven that age remains only a number and continues to go strong showing no reason why he cannot add to his tally of accolades, both- collective and personal.
