Paris Saint-Germain are pondering over the first transfer of the summer for them by monitoring a Manchester United target.
Manchester United are planning to strengthen their backline now having practically sealed the signing of Donny van de Beek. The Red Devils are looking at a central defender in particular just one year after spending a lucrative sum on landing Harry Maguire from Leicester City. Milan Skriniar is their primary target.
As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to launch a bid for Inter Milan star man, thereby hijacking a move that the Premier League giants wanted to seal. The Slovakia international hasn’t played much for the Serie A giants in recent times. The 25-year-old didn’t even feature in the line-up in the Europa League final.
Skriniar has not been able to adjust to Conte’s 3-5-2 formation and has slipped into a bad run of form. Moreover, he has been seeking a move away from the club for quite some time; at least as per a few reports. In the past few months, Milan Skriniar has been linked to some of Europe’s finest clubs including the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City.
Some reports are even of the opinion that Manchester United stand as the favourites to land the 25-year-old. A future for Skriniar at Inter looks very shaky now given he’s not a preference for Conte.
He is used to the conventional four-man backline and consequently, could not keep his place post the adoption of Antonio Conte’s highly successful tactical setup originating from the Premier League.
Inter Milan have identified their targets for the summer and must sell before they can buy anyone else. Milan Skriniar is a highly rated central defender and Inter might just get a lot from this deal which will help them reinvest. As such, he isn’t even a regular fixture for their manager and warming the bench at that age simply isn’t feasible.
PSG had to deal with the loss of Thiago Silva who did not extend his contract with the Parisians and is now at Chelsea. It was a major blow for the Ligue 1 champions, and which is why they are looking to rope in Milan Skriniar as he still has age on his side and continue for at least another couple of years barring any injuries.
In hindsight, Skriniar will be a super addition to Thomas Tuchel’s squad because he displays similar characteristics as Thiago Silva, perhaps besides leadership. He is rock-solid, risk-taking and incredibly physical and strong defender that’ll not only help in the Ligue 1 where teams play on the break, but also in the Champions League.
