Paris Saint-Germain have identified a replacement for Kylian Mbappe and are looking to make a move for the striker this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain have had a poor start to their season as they had initially lost ground in their league campaign and were largely average in their Champions League group stage. Their substandard performances did lead to a mid-season sack for Thomas Tuchel and was henceforth replaced by Mauricio Pochettino.
A change in the hot seat did bring some luck for the Parisians as they lifted French Super Cup and therefore have put up improved performances in the past couple of weeks. The Ligue 1 giants had an excellent outing in the first leg of the Round of 16 in the Champions League as they thumped Barcelona 4-1 at Camp Nou.
Their protagonist of the win, Kylian Mbappe, has been subject to a lot of interest from the top sides in Europe. There have been murmurs that the forward might leave the club after the end of this season. Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City have been touted as the possible destinations for the former Monaco man.
The 2019/20 Champions League finalists have reportedly slapped a 200 million euro price tag on their prized asset. However, the Parisians are unsure about the future of their no.7 and hence are willing to bring in a cover for their forward if he decides to part ways with the club this summer.
According to Mirror, PSG have identified a replacement for Mbappe as they have set their sights on Harry Kane. The Tottenham striker is reportedly being seen as a cover to the Frenchman and if reports are to be believed true then the star attacker has been valued at 150 million euros by the Lilywhites.
The Englishman has been in fine form in front of the goal this season as he has scored 13 goals in 22 appearances in the ongoing league campaign. The forward has played a big role for the Spurs as his partnership with Son Heung-min upfront has been one of the key highlights of the Spurs this term.
Paris Saint-Germain will be interested to land a top forward like Kane as they have lacked the services of a proper striker. Despite some useful contributions from the likes of Moise Kean and Mauro Icardi, the Ligue 1 side have somehow fallen short in their final third this season.
Mauricio Pochettino would be more than happy to reunite with his former attacker as he had a good relationship with the English international during his time in north London. The Argentine boss will be looking to add more quality to his star-studded squad and therefore will favour making a move for one of the best strikers in European football.
It is understood that the Red and Blues will sanction this big-money move only if they see Mbappe leaving the Parc des Princes after the end of this season. The Parisians would be hoping to retain the services of their no.7 beyond this summer and are reportedly waiting for the forward to sign on new terms with the club.
PSG have a set plan in mind and that involves bringing Kane to the French capital therefore it will be interesting to see whether the club signs the Spurs no.10 or continue their association with their World Cup-winning youngster.
