Neymar still waiting on Barcelona advances to return to Camp Nou
The Brazilian has long since expressed his desire to return to Barca and reunite with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. He was even ready to invoke article 17 of FIFA regulations due to his contract’s limitations. While Barcelona have been equally pursuant of his services, they are one of the hardest-hit clubs by the coronavirus pandemic, and quite frankly can’t afford the exorbitant transfer fees of Neymar.
However, Neymar still wants to wait for an update from the Spanish side before cementing any deal. His dissatisfaction with PSG comes from the overreliance they have on him and Kylian Mbappe, and he would like to reunite with Barca while he’s still in his prime.
Although multiple, conflicting reports have come up when it comes to the “Neymar to Camp Nou” move, according to Forbes (via Le Parisien), the Brazilian will stay put at Paris Saint-Germain way past this season and will apparently renew his contract with the Ligue 1 side as well.
According to Mundo Deportivo, however, the 28-year-old is in no rush to finalize his future and is prepared to wait for the Catalans before extending his stay in Paris. Barca have been unable to give their final verdict about Neymar as they have many other financial strains to measure. On top of that, the club’s transfer priority remains focused on Lautaro Martinez’s signing and based on whether they sign the Argentine and how much he costs, it will determine the possibility of approaching Neymar.
The Catalans would ideally like to secure both superstars but the French champions have to agree to an exchange deal for Neymar that can be affordable by Barca. As of now, Antoine Griezmann, Samuel Umtiti, and Ousmane Dembele have all been offered.
Neymar is aware that the transfer window in Spain remains open until October and is ready to wait until then to finalize the last few years of his career.
