Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain are in talks over a contract renewal, but the player wants a few demands answered before that happens.
Paris Saint-Germain have opened contract talks with four of their first team players and one of them is Neymar. Despite being linked to Barcelona and showing a high zest on returning to the Camp Nou, the player now seems interested in staying at the Parc des Princes. Neymar has a contract with the Ligue 1 giants until June 2022 and a five-year extension is on the table.
Cuatro reports that the Brazil international is within touching distance of signing a renewed agreement with his current outfit but wants two of his most crucial demands to be fulfilled. Firstly, he will accept no reduction in his salary and wants to continue earning his existing wage of 30 million euros annually despite the coronavirus losses.
Secondly, the 28-year-old has asked for a direct involvement in the club’s transfer decisions alongside sporting director Leonardo. The Parisians came close to winning the Champions League earlier this year, but Bayern Munich showed them that a few more positions needed to strengthen before it could happen and Neymar took note of it.
Besides his demands, the key reason why Neymar is signing a new contract is due to the fact that Kylian Mbappe will depart for Real Madrid in the summer. The France international’s exit will make the winger the sole occupier of the limelight and make him the brand image of Paris Saint-Germain, which so far has been an honour shared with the 21-year-old.
Even though Mbappe will depart, the Olympic gold medallist hopes that his side can replace the lethal scorer. Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo is the player who is being considered by Paris Saint-Germain and amid talks that he could be listed on the market, Leonardo stated that the French side will look to sign him next summer.
