Napoli has considered signing Real Madrid flop striker this summer after failing to secure a spot in the eleven under Zinedine Zidane
Luka Jovic‘s grand move from the Bundesliga to Real Madrid last summer has not worked out at all. The former Eintracht Frankfurt striker signed for the Los Blancos after a stellar season in the Bundesliga scoring 17 league goals during the campaign and adding another 10 goals to his name in the UEFA Europa League.
Jovic has a prime target of Barcelona as well last summer, however, the Serbian striker opted to sign for the Merengues and signed a six-year contract with the club that paid 60 million euros for his services to Frankfurt. However, Jovic has not lived up to the expectations as many expected the two-footed Serbian footballer to do so.
In fact, one could argue that Jovic was not provided the opportunity as well to showcase his skill as the striker spent most of the summer and 2020 on the bench of the Santiago Bernabeu. It seems like the former Benfica man has joined the likes of James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale at the club although there seems to be no bad blood between Jovic and Zidane.
Marca now reports that Luka Jovic has been linked with a move to Napoli this summer as well after the player was also heavily linked with a move to AC Milan where he could possibly join forces with his former Frankfurt attacking partner, Rebic.
Arkadiusz Milik of Napoli has been tipped with a move to Juventus this summer as a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain and to Tottenham Hotspur as a striker partner for Harry Kane, however, Napoli consider Luka Jovic to be their ideal target man if Milik is to leave this summer.
Although Jovic’s move to Real Madrid has not worked out as many expected, the 22-year-old striker has immense potential which was displayed perfectly at Frankfurt as they let the Serbian forward settle into the squad with ample game time.
A move to Napoli might benefit the young striker to find his old form once again and the Italian team is reportedly prepared to offer the Real Madrid man a crucial role in the starting eleven. However, Real would be making a mistake by selling Jovic so soon without giving him a chance to show his true potential.
Having said that, the player could be sent on a two-year loan to Napoli to fine-tune his skills and return as the ideal candidate to replace Karim Benzema who has shown no signs of slowing down since Cristiano Ronaldo‘s departure
