Paul Pogba should switch sides next summer as a former Manchester United player feels that the midfielder is now a problem for the club.
Paul Pogba’s second spell at Manchester United has been a mixed bag since his return in the summer of 2016. The Frenchman was brought on a five-year contract for a staggering fee of 105 million euros with an additional amount of 5 million euros for bonuses, but it’s fair to say that Pogba has not redeemed himself well to justify the then world-record spending.
The 27-year-old was brought to the Old Trafford as a marquee signing and was backed to provide the club with some creativity in the midfield. The former Juventus man had a decent season under coach Jose Mourinho and had ended the 2016/17 campaign with two trophies under his belt. However, since his first season, the player has had too many on and off-field related issues during his tenure at the club.
The World Cup winner has not been at his best since his big-money move as he has somehow struggled to cope with form and injuries. The French international was also involved in a fall-out with Mourinho and many believe that his bust-up with the Portuguese manager had indirectly led to his sack in December 2018.
I think his performances since he has been here have been inconsistent. Paul Pogba is a world-class player and when he moved to Old Trafford I thought, ‘great’, but all he has done is been a problem.
The ex-United player also gave his opinion on why the Frenchman has not been a starter in recent games, as he said,
The fans have gone against him and now Bruno Fernandes has come in and shown what you need to do to be a Manchester United player. He has performed consistently and Paul Pogba hasn’t done that and that is why he finds himself on the bench.
The World Cup winner has had offers from Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona but has not yet responded to the interest shown by these clubs. However, the 27-year-old has not ruled out the possibility of shifting base as in the summer of 2019 as he mentioned that a good challenge elsewhere may have him thinking.
Sources indicate that the former Juventus man could move to Madrid next summer as the player is fascinated by the prospect of joining the Spanish giants. Zinedine Zidane has also expressed his desire to work with Pogba as he stated that he would love to work with the Frenchman if he gets an opportunity.
What do you make of Pogba’s cyptic and unclear circumstances and future at Manchester United?
