Phil Jones has had enough at Manchester United and is now looking for a way out in a bid to spend some minutes on the pitch

Manchester United and their transfer strategies have been a massive plot to uncover. Many of the transfer decisions taken by the Red Devils in the past has left many a soul, spellbound. The current situation is regarding Phil Jones who hardly featured in the XI in the last two years.

The 28-year-old has been having an unfortunate love-affair with a recurrent hamstring problem which partly explains his current situation; however, not entirely. As per Sun, Phil Jones is looking for a way out of Old Trafford after not being named in either of the squads set to take part in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had the ex-English defender’s contract extended last year and that is set to expire in 2023. The Red Devils currently have him on a salary of 100,000 pounds/per week and there seems to be no logic behind this contract extension. Despite earning a decent sum of money every year, Phil Jones is more focused on the game and the playtime that he isn’t getting. He hasn’t featured in a single minute this season and the former Blackburn defender wants to change that.

Despite having an attachment with Old Trafford, Phil Jones is prepared for an exit in a bid to spend some more minutes on the pitch. It was only in the past summer window that Ole decided to offload Chris Smalling. There were offers on the table for Phil Jones as well but none of which were accepted.

One might think that an exit would be relatively easy but that isn’t the case. With 20 million pounds as his asking fee, any team is likely to feel uncomfortable to be spending that big amount on a player who hasn’t made more than five appearances in the last two years. And just so you know, Manchester United are unlikely to accept anything below the asking fee for the 28-year-old.

Even though the Red Devils managed to sign some big players, they failed to capture their target of the summer in Jadon Sancho and made themselves look desperate in the process. Only time will tell us and Phil Jones about his future at the club because as far as is his contract is concerned, it is set to go on until 2023.
