After the signing of Donny van de beek, Manchester United have shortlisted three more potential signings for the summer window

Manchester United made a few big signings in the 2019-2020 season, with Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka coming as new additions to the squad. During the winter transfer window, the English side made another buy, in Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes. Since then, the results have just gone uphill for the Red Devils, which concluded in them finishing third in the Premier League window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been really smart with business and covered up most of the positions where United was lacking, the defensive backline being the first priority.

The Norwegian manager, however, has decided to not stop there. Going into the summer transfer window, Ole had the goal of signing the prolific English winger Jadon Sancho. The 20-year-old who currently plays for Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund has attracted suitors from around Europe due to his excellent performances, one of them happened to be Manchester United.

A move though, could not pull through with the German side placing their demands too high, at around 108 million euros. United would still continue to pursue the prospect of the English winger playing in the Old Trafford, but Ole has reportedly made a decision to make at least three more signings before October 5th when the transfer window closes.

The positions according to which the signings are to be made are apparently to the left-back spot, a center-back, and a forward. Currently, Luke Shaw the fullback on the left side for United has been really inconsistent and has been injured for most of the season. Ole’s side has been looking for options in Alex Telles from FC Porto or Serio Reguilon from Real Madrid, and although it would not be a priority signing they surely will be worthy additions to the squad.

In terms of a center-back, United do need a quality defender to partner with the likes of Harry Maguire. 21-year-old Frenchman Dayot Upamecano comes to mind with the youngster being the star player of RB Leipzig and a key factor for their semi-final run in the UEFA Champions League. Though the youngster has signed a new contract, with the possible sales of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Marcus Rojo the English side might be able to secure a move for the young defender.

Upfront, with the recent complications arising with the deal of Jadon Sancho, the Red Devils have looked for alternatives, and have found an ideal candidate in David Brooks from Bournemouth. However, the championship side value the player at 50 million euros, a price which again is too high for Ole’s men, which makes a possible move very unlikely. As a standby, a one-year loan deal might also be in the works with Juventus winger Douglas Costa joining the Premier League side till they sort out the situation with Sancho or find a suitable permanent replacement.

Manchester United have only made one signing this transfer window in Donny Van De Beek, and though he is an exceptional player and a great addition to the squad, United still have a long way to go to compete with the squads of Liverpool, Manchester City, or even Chelsea for that matter. Hopefully, if carried out well an active transfer window will turn things around for Solskjaer, and the team will go back to the winning days they used to enjoy.
