Manchester United have a shortlisted an alternative to Jadon Sancho despite agreeing to personal terms with English forward.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in the driving seat to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho. The Red Devils have agreed to personal terms with Sancho until 2026 but are yet to finalise a deal with the Black and Yellows. Dortmund are demanding an asking price of 95 million euros for their forward and a move this summer looks inevitable after the transfer fell through last summer.
The Manchester City academy graduate has been on the radar of the club for the past two seasons. The right-wing at Old Trafford currently lacks quality as the likes of Daniel James and Mason Greenwood have been inconsistent with their performances.
However, in case, Manchester United fail to sign the 21-year-old, the club has shortlisted an alternative signing from Bayern Munich. According to SPORT1, Kingsley Coman has been identified as the second choice signing. The French international is on contract with the Bavarian giants until 2023 and is valued at 65 million euros. The 24-year-old had another brilliant individual campaign with Bayern in the 2020-21 season- scoring eight goals and providing 15 assists across all competitions.
With that being said, Coman would be an ideal recruitment for Manchester United if they fail to sign Sancho. The former Juventus winger is amongst one of the fastest players in the world, he can play on either wing and is two-footed which makes him a lethal threat in the final third. Apart from his technical ability, he has also played at the highest level across Europe with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and now Bayern Munich and is very experienced despite his young age.
He’s also represented France at the 2018 World Cup, which they won, and has now been called up by Didier Deschamps for the Euro 2020 which will be his third major international tournament.
At Old Trafford, Kingsley Coman can compete for a place alongside Mason Greenwood in the starting eleven next season and provide healthy competition to the young English forward. The two share a similar style of play, however, Coman could become the first choice mainly due to his experience in the top-flight and superior consistency in delivering the end product.
While Manchester United will focus on signing Jadon Sancho this summer, the Red Devils should not overlook the potential signing of Coman. The 24-year-old would be the ideal backup signing if they fail to get their hands on the England international once again.
