Manchester United are in the market for a forward and the club has been linked once again with a superstar from the Serie A
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is optimistic for the 2020/21 season after finishing third last season in the Premier League.Manchester United are set to take on Crystal Palace at the Old Trafford to kickstart their Premier League campaign this weekend. The game against Palace will have all the attention on Anthony Martial, who have finished last season as United’s top goal scorer and will be hoping to find the back of the net this weekend.
Manchester United have been eager on signing Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho this summer to form a lethal front three of Rashford, Martial and Sancho. However, the Bundesliga side have remained stern with the negotiations and are not willing to accept anything below the fixed price.
With the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam this summer it is highly unlikely that the Red Devils would meet the asking price that has been set for Sancho. Instead, according to the Telegraph, the English side has shortlisted Ivan Perisic along with Gareth Bale.
The 31-year-old left-winger has had a phenomenal loan spell at Bayern Munich last season. Persic played an important role for Hansi Flick’s side that went on two win the treble for the second time in the club’s long history. The Croatian winger managed to score eight goals in all competitions for the Bavarians in all competitions.
However, it has been reported that Antonio Conte at Inter Milan has no plans of including the former Dortmund forward in his plans for the upcoming Serie A season. The Italians are open to selling the player for cheap and it has been rumoured that the Red Devils could sign for a mere 18 million euros.
At the age of 31, Ivan Perisic could be handed a single year contract as Manchester United could then sign Jadon Sancho in the summer of 2021. Perisic still has a season or two under his belt and a short stint at the Old Trafford might prove to be benefical to both parties.
